Late. Pt. Haridas Shenoy Born on the 12th of May, 1947 in Thalaserry, Kerala, Pt.
Haridas Shenoy's professional path led him to banking, but his heart was devoted to
music. Unbeknownst to him, music would come to shape his life profoundly. His
guiding principle throughout his life was, "Music is and will forever be a service to God,
nothing less." He upheld this mantra every moment of his existence. From a tender
age, he exhibited an innate, extraordinary musical talent that drew him irresistibly
towards the world of melodies. Even without formal instruction, he commenced his
musical journey by playing the Tabla and Harmonium, accompanying his siblings in
rendering light music and bhajans at local village temples. His vocal abilities were also
commendable. As time progressed, a longing to receive formal training compelled him
to search for a guru. The guidance of Pt. Gaurang Kodical marked the commencement
of his formal Tabla education. With his newfound mentor and other stalwarts of
Hindustani Music such as Pt. Vinayak Torvi and Vidushi Prabha Atre, he began to
accompany in numerous concerts. It was during one such event that he was introduced
to Pt. K P Shenoy, a renowned flautist, which led to an opportunity for him to
accompany the maestro on the tabla. His innate potential for instrumental music shone
through when he was handed a flute to test if he could produce the desired shruti, a
task he executed with elegance. This marked the initiation of his next chapter under the
guidance of Pt. K P Shenoy, which ultimately shaped him into an accomplished flautist

Late. Pt. K Pundalik Shenoy (Guru of Pt Haridas Shenoy) Numerous legends remain
concealed or unacknowledged within the folds of history. Among these narratives is
the untold saga of Pandit Kelagenamane Pundalik Shenoy. Arriving into the world on
the 20th of May, 1933, in Kasaragod, young Pundalik's passion for the bansuri was
ignited by the influence of Pandit Pannalal Ghosh. However, it was Pandit Arjunsa
Nakod, a renowned vocalist, who welcomed him into his tutelage, imparting a unique
dimension to his flute performances. Amidst his pursuits, a significant challenge of
his time lay in obtaining a finely tuned bansuri. His persistent experiments led to the
creation of the awe-inspiring Panchajanya flute, an instrument measuring nearly 4
feet in length. Subsequently, he embarked on the journey of establishing the
Karnataka Uttaradi Sangeet Upasak Mandal, known as 'KUSUM,' aimed at promoting
music and the bansuri culture in Bangalore. Through this endeavor, he also
commenced the noble task of imparting music education to aspiring learners.

guidance of his music-devoted parents, Ramanand and Seeta Kodical. His formal
training commenced under the tutelage of Pt. Shashi Bellare in Mumbai, followed by
Pt. Dattappa Garud in Bangalore. With the blessings of his Guru,

he developed a distinctive style for accompanying Hindustani vocal music. Pt. Gouran

g had the privilege of providing accompaniment to a diverse array of artists, including
Pt. Mallikarjun Mansur, Pt. Kumar Gandharva, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Jasraj, Pt.

concert tours across the USA, UK, Canada, Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia,
and Bangladesh.
